Back to 1978/9 season

Things that go Bump in the Night (Derek Haslam, Sept.22nd, 1978)

Stravinsky"The Firebird" (beginning)
Wagner"The Flying Dutchman" (beginning of overture)
Wagner"The Flying Dutchman" (The Dutchman's ghostly crew wakes and replies to the merrymaking of Daland's sailors)
SibeliusSymphony No.2 in D (2nd mvt - andante)

MendelssohnCantata - "The First Walpurgis Night"

I'm not absolutely certain that the programme was given on the date stated (the syllabus says "Title to be announced") but it's about the right year, it was certainly the first programme of the season, and it's about the only one of my programmes otherwise unaccounted for.
